KIND WORDS FROM HAPPY CLIENTS . . .
By chance I got Shannon as my masseuse a year ago and haven't wanted anyone else to work on me since. She has helped my neck issues, a lower back issue with psoas work, and water on the knee with IT band massage. The IT band work really surprised me – I had been to an orthopedic doc and even had x-rays, and the orthopods never mentioned anything about the muscles being involved. They gave me anti-inflammatories and sent me on my way. Shannon understands really well how the different parts of the body relate to each other, and she has allowed me to fix things naturally, through her hands on work, or through her guidance of my own exercises. Since then, I have started working with her as a fitness and nutrition trainer. She listens really well, works personal restrictions into manageable routines, and presents individualized plans for fitness and diet that are doable and sustainable over the long run. --M.B, Hygiene, CO
Shannon has been a life saver and ‘quality of life saver’. Following back surgery, 3 years ago, for a ruptured L4/L5 disc my first visit happened. At that time I was 6 months post surgery and had much discomfort that effected my whole life. Besides being miserable, I really could not do what I was used to doing. Following this initial massage my only regret was that I had not done it sooner. Being one who does not want to rely on pain medications that merely put a band aid on the pain rather than addressing the actual source of the pain, the relief I got was not only welcome but reassuring. Initially, I had several weekly, then bi-weekly massages. I now am well maintained with monthly massages. Shannon’s ability to define the specific source of muscular tightness and ‘work it out’ has had an overall impact on my body. As all our muscles and nerves are an integrated unit they must all be in optimum working order to get and maintain the best function. I now have a pain free existence, do all the activities I did prior to surgery, and the kinks that develop at other various parts of my body get addressed and eliminated. Shannon is well schooled at identifying and alleviating muscular dysfunction that effects pain and overall life function. Additionally, she has offered exercises that are easily done at home to further maintain comfort and function. Shannon’s caring and pleasant personality are bonuses that contribute to a great outcome. --M.D, Erie, CO
I have been working with Shannon for approximately 2 1/2 years. I originally came to her to help deal with pain and discomfort caused by an accumulation of sports injuries over the years. The massage work she does regularly has done a great deal to alleviate my day to day pain and made my life much more enjoyable. I look forward to working with her as a personal trainer because like her massage practice, she will tailor the program to my specific needs and injuries, and with her thorough knowledge of physiology I am sure that not only will I be pain free, but I will be able to return to a level of performance that I have not been capable of for years. --G.B, Longmont, CO
What is best about Shannon is also what has helped me the most by working with her: she has some of the smartest hands I've ever come into contact with in years of being a massage client. My work environment is docile, but my personal life is full of outdoor activities and exercise; I am big and muscular and usually require a lot of pressure to feel relief. When I can't get that relief, I'm in pain; and when I'm in pain, I can't perform at the gym, on the ski slope, or make an effective shoulder turn on the golf course. When we met for our first session, I was honestly a little worried we'd have a hard time working together because she's not the biggest person on the planet, but Shannon put that thought out of my mind after the first session. It's not just smart hands - Shannon is smart. We've worked together long enough that I see the results of her engagement in the process as a healer. I think that triggers an innate ability to learn a body over time that I honestly believe I've benefitted from. If it makes any sense to say, the massage is itself both effective and efficient: I feel like I get better and less painful (and less toxic) trigger point release because of Shannon's technique.....which I would describe as a combination of mild pressure, strategic limb position / joint rotation, and stretching. And it really, really works on what can often be very stubborn and painful muscles to get to release and relax. --M.B, Longmont, CO
I started going to Shannon about a year ago due to extreme shoulder pain when trying to sleep. I always thought the pain was strictly joint related. Shannon explained that while some of the discomfort is related to minor arthritis, the muscles surrounding the area tend to aggravate the shoulder even more. Within 3 sessions, and working at home with some exercises she gave me my pain was almost non existent. Shannon takes the time to understand exactly what you are looking for in therapy and general health, and goes to work to help you achieve the goals you desire. She is a pro, and I'm a customer for life! --D.W, Longmont, CO
